After more than 25 years of dedicated service to us here at the Hope-Jackson Fire Company, Engine 42 has been relieved of duty, but not retired. This truck is now running as Western Coventry Engine 9.

Best wishes in your new home!

Engine 42 is a 1978 American LaFrance Century pumper. It is powered by a 6-71N Detroit Diesel, with a 5 speed Manual transmission. Engine 42 was refurbished in 1994 enclosing the jumpseat area of the 6-man cab and installing a 40 gal. Class B foam cell in addition to its 1000-gallon water tank. If E-41 is the primary response attack piece then E-42 has deservedly earned it’s reputation as our "Maxi-Water" water supply workhorse! It carries 1200 feet of 4" LDH, a 2000 gallon portable drop tank, extra long 6" lightweight suction hoses and both floating and low-level strainers. With its 1250 GPM American LaFrance twin-flow 2 stage pump it can be seen frequently pumping water at a fill site for tankers or as a supply pumper at the scene of fires in Scituate and neighboring Towns. It has the proud distinction of pumping ALL of the water at the infamous Deer Run fire of a few years back (5 continuous hours) and most of the water for the Morrocco Barn fire on Seven Mile Road in the early 80’s.
