Yes, our junior program lets teens experience what it is like to be a firefighter. Junior members are provided gear and training. For more information contact the firehouse.

At this time, we do not offer ride alongs on our fire apparatus. If you are an EMT student in need of ride time, please call or stop by the firehouse.

For volunteer firefighters, no experience or training is necessary to apply. All equipment and training will be provided in house, along with enrollment into FF1/FF2 classes if you decide to stay with us. For EMS applicants you must possess a current RI EMT license.

Yes. We equip our members with the necessary equipment needed to combat structural fires. Equipment includes: boots, pants, coat, hood, and gloves. Members might also receive a pager to alert them to emergency calls.

All members are required to respond to emergencies in fire apparatus. No member is allowed to respond to a scene in their personal vehicle. No light permits will be given out.

Yes. The HJFC has mutual aid agreements with surrounding cities and towns to provide apparatus and manpower to emergencies.

Yes. We offer full bunkroom, kitchen, and day room for our members to use.

At this time, the only time requirement is for our EMTs who are staffing our Rescue. EMTs are required to staff a duty night the night before their day shift starts to provide night coverage. There are no required hours for our firefighters. Our Company training night is on Sunday, where all members are highly encouraged to attend.

New applicants are required to complete a probationary period of 1 year. During this time, the new members are put through fire classes to ensure that they get the training necessary to become firefighters. Probationary members are not allowed to vote during Company meetings are respond out of town on mutual aid assignments.
