Members of the Hope & Jackson Fire Company drilled on Squad 3’s specialized stabilization and extrication equipment. While this equipment has many uses, today’s focus was on their usage during car accident involving unstable vehicles and patients entrapped beneath a vehicle.
Utilizing ParaTech Rescue Struts and the HydraFusion System, firefighters capture the vehicles suspension with ratchet straps. With the car chocked and cribbed, members set up the strut system to stabilize and lift the car using a chain cradle with the HydraFusion hydraulic pump. The vehicles front end was then lifted from the ground in a coordinated effort to free an entrapped victim.
